Herbert L. Schachter Mensch Award Winners
Mensch – noun “a decent, upright, mature, and responsible person. A person of strength and honor.”
The Herbert L. Schachter Mensch Award was created in 2009 to honor New England junior players whose honor and integrity transcend the world of tennis. Each recipient has demonstrated maturity, strength, compassion, and decency as well as an awareness of the social responsibility we all have toward one another. Recipients of the award are given an opportunity to choose a cause to which The Nashua Swim and Tennis Club will make a donation.
Herb Schachter, who passed away in 2008, was known throughout New England junior tennis for his love of kids and the emphasis he placed on honesty, hard work, sportsmanship, and decency. This award was created by his family to carry on this legacy.
